A newspaper can be quite handy on an adventure if you know how to use it. Not only can it inform and entertain, it can also be folded, spindled, and sadly enough even mutilated into something perfect for getting you out of a jam. Unfortunately, you have to have one first.
In Raving Manor B.D. (Before Death), the good Doctor would often make a habit of reading the paper in the dining room and carrying it through the pantry. Sometimes it was left in the pantry as he would rifle through the cabinets in search of a small snack. As luck would have it, apparently one time it was put in the pantry cabinet by mistake, and it is still lying there.
Of course, such an accident is understood given the terrible news on the front page. The house was no doubt in quite a disarray at the time. And it has only gotten worse ever since.
